Sekan has been involved with a lot of leading cultural Dutch initiatives since its inception or at least for more than 10 years. First supporting what they represent, which usually ended up in collaborations since their values aligned. Being up close and behind the scenes of operations such as Rush Hour, Red Light Radio, Dekmantel, Patta, Het Hem and more is a huge asset in Sekan's knowledge of musical and creative direction, curation, and production.

Collaborators

  • “For Rush Hour there were many hats to be worn. A lot of it had to do with the human aspect of the shop. But there's a lot more happening in the background to keep everything running smoothly. Part of my operations were visual & graphic design, art direction, content production, marketing, label and distribution operations, buyer and seller hosting instore events and more.”

  • “Had my first radio show with them in 2012 when they were still very young. They grew into more than an online broadcaster hosting events and shows around the globe. Jiwa Jiwa got its residency in 2017 which ran until the station closed in 2020. Next to that Jiwa Jiwa also collaborated on events with them together with Rush Hour, Red Light Records and Revive.”

  • “For as long as I can remember I've been going to Dekmantel events, which started very small back in 2007. In 2017 I did my first radioshow for them on Red Light Radio, and our bond grew stronger from there. During the pandemic my management Bureau Punt hosted Dekmantel Connects to collaborate and highlight Dutch initiatives through their channels. After the pandemic I finally had a chance to play at one of their festivals, Dekmantel Selectors. Making a contribution to their infamous podcast series and playing the Lentekabinet festival in the spring after that. And this summer heading back to Croatia for Dekmantel Selectors 2023.”

  • “Part of a small group of resident artists, I provided a soundtrack both live and through curated playlists for the museum and hub of contemporary culture, Het Hem. Located in an old arms factory, the industrial space inspires artists and visitors from all walks of life. In the 200 meter long post-industrial concrete facade where small and large spaces provide a place for events, exhibtions, raves and intimate music sessions. Dynamic Range was the musical heart of it all with a Klipsch and McIntosh loaded soundsystem to provide the best sonic experience.”

  • “Since their inception as a sneaker store at the original location I’ve been a fan of what they represent. Through my connections in music I’ve been able to represent them through the Patta soundsystem at international events for Jordan, Vans, Nike and at Paris fashion week.”

  • “Another radio residency to showcase a more varied array of my musical knowledge. The show was called Alleskan which means Anything goes, and is an anagram for All Sekan, representing all musical sides I'm interested in. A residency that spanned from 2018 until late 2022 just before leaving for Bali. I’ve invited guests on the show such as Dreamcastmoe and helped with direction on the technical side with the studio. Played at their events and anniversaries in clubs and festivals.”
