Dekmantel Selectors 2023 recording

Finally able to share a special Jiwa Jiwa set for Dekmantel Selectors with 4 hours of only Indonesian jams. Amazing seeing people locked in from start to finish at this intimate little corner of the festival at the Magnolia stage. I don’t think I ever went this deep in my Indonesian archive where I could go from traditional folk in the form of Dangdut, Pop Sunda, Pop Tapanuli, Pop Jawa, Pop Kreatif, ‘Tjeng cet’ and more, to modern music and upcoming releases, and then back to psych rock, funk, soul, jazz, ambient, house and so much more. 

I definitely was in the zone, and amazing hearing that from friends too who were vibrating on that same frequency. It was like the most fun ‘lecture’ I could give on Indonesian music and its vastness. And playing for 4 hours and transitioning from day to night is always such a magical experience.

I don’t think i’ve ever had a set more suitable to play Licik. Thanks for that opportunity @dkmntl and hope to be back soon.
