Pesta Merdeka at Sexyland World

A celebration for and by diaspora sharing good food by Indo Rice Bowl, pop-up store by Rezareez and good music of course by Dangdut Banget and Sekan. Traditional Indonesian games that you play on hari merdeka, karaoke and more. What better way to spread a decolonized vision of what is independence than celebrating it in the country of the former coloniser. Indonesian natives and diaspora came from all over Holland to celebrate. Where we initially estimated around 80 people to show up they more than tripled that and max out Sexyland's capacity. Amazing what can happen within only two weeks of planning and production and only word of mouth promotion, the strength of unity in liberation.
